1 · A train journey
Woman: Have you checked our train for Saturday? I wrote down ten fifteen, but I cannot find the ticket now.
Man: That was the train we first looked at. It was too expensive, so I booked the one at ten forty-five instead.
Woman: All right. Shall we meet at ten fifteen, then? That gives us half an hour.
Man: Good idea. We should arrive before eleven fifteen if there are no delays.
2 · Meeting after school
Man: Shall I meet you outside the library after school, as usual?
Woman: The library closes early today. I need to return a book before lunch, so I will not be there later.
Man: What about the café next to the swimming pool? We could get something to drink.
Woman: That works. I am not swimming today, so I will go straight to the café at four. See you inside.
3 · Getting to the match
Woman: Are you cycling to the match tomorrow, Tom?
Man: I wanted to, but one of my tyres is flat. My brother offered to take me on the train.
Woman: That sounds easy. The station is close to the sports ground.
Man: It is, but he has to leave much earlier than I do. There is a bus from outside my house, so I have decided to take that. I will repair the bike on Sunday.
4 · Packing for the walk
Man: Before we set off, has everybody got what they need? Your jackets are already in the minibus.
Woman: I have my hat. Is there anything else I should bring?
Man: We have snacks for the whole group, but there is nowhere to buy a drink on the path. Bring your own water bottle and fill it before we leave.
Woman: Thanks. Mine is in my locker. I will get it now.
5 · The afternoon weather
Woman: It is raining hard now. Do you think we should cancel this afternoon’s walk?
Man: I have just checked the forecast. The rain should stop by lunchtime, but the clouds will stay all afternoon.
Woman: So it will not be sunny like yesterday?
Man: No, but it should be dry enough to walk. Take a warm layer because it may feel cool without the sun.
6 · Something missing
Man: You look worried. Have you lost your phone again?
Woman: No, it is here in my bag, next to my wallet. I cannot find the keys to our front door.
Man: Did you use them when you left this morning?
Woman: My dad locked the door. I think I put them on the kitchen table last night. I will call him to check before I go home.
7 · A change to practice
Woman: The drama practice usually finishes at half past four. Is that still right for Friday?
Man: We need extra time to try the final scene. We will start at four, as usual, but this week we will finish at five.
Woman: I will ask my mum to collect me later, then.
Man: Thanks. It is just for this week. Next Friday we will return to the normal timetable.
