A visit to Greenfield Nature Centre
Guide: Good morning, everyone. I am going to tell you about our class visit to Greenfield Nature Centre next month. Please have a pen ready, because there are a few details you will need to remember. First, the date. We originally planned to go on the twelfth of June, but the centre has a school event that day. Our visit is now on the fifteenth of June. That is a Monday, so you will need to arrive at school earlier than usual. The coach leaves at eight forty-five. Please meet in the playground fifteen minutes before that, at eight thirty, so that we have time to check everyone is there. We should reach the centre by ten. You have already paid for transport through the school trip fund. The only extra cost is the entrance fee, which is six pounds for students. Adults normally pay nine pounds, but you do not need to worry about that price. When we arrive, we will meet our guide, Ms Parker. I will spell her surname so you can write it on your notes: P, A, R, K, E, R. She will take us along the river path and show us how to look for signs of animals without disturbing them. We will spend most of the morning outside. Please wear boots because the ground beside the river can be muddy, even when the weather is dry. Ordinary trainers are not suitable for this part of the visit. A waterproof jacket would also be useful. Bring a packed lunch and a refillable water bottle. If it rains at lunchtime, we will eat in the classroom next to the visitor centre. The café will be closed that day, and food is not allowed in the exhibition hall. In the afternoon, we will work in small groups to make a wildlife map. There will be time to compare your maps before we leave. Please give your permission forms to me by Friday. If you have any questions about the visit, come and speak to me after the lesson.
